A female officer of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has reportedly died following an accident during a display in the Federal Capital Territory.
A 58-second video that went viral on social media on Saturday purportedly showed the event taking place during a “show of force” drill by the Corps’ Female Strike Force, referred to as the Female Squad as well.
According to the video, a black operating van with red wheels that read “Female Squad” was seen driving forward, followed by another van that read “Female Strike Force FCT Command.”
A female cop was pinned beneath the lead car as it drove over her during a curve.
The footage showed a number of more NSCDC officials and onlookers racing to the scene right away. Together, they lifted the van to free the trapped man and placed him in an ambulance that was waiting.
The Cable claims that NSCDC Spokesperson Afolabi Babawale confirmed the officer’s death over the phone on Saturday afternoon, even though the Corps has not yet released a formal press release.
Although Babawale allegedly stated that a thorough statement would be released to elucidate the facts surrounding the tragedy, the identity of the deceased officer has not yet been made public as of the time this news was filed.
