Governor Siminialayi Fubara has appointed a new chief of staff and also secretary to the Rivers State Government.

Onwuka Nzeshi, his chief press secretary, revealed this in a statement on Thursday in Port Harcourt.

According to the statement, Fubara named Barrister Sunny Ewule as Chief of Staff, or CoS, and Dr. Dagogo S.A. Wokoma as Secretary to the State Government, with immediate effect.

Following the state’s political turmoil and the “peace deal” in Abuja, the governor previously fired his advisers, including SSG Dr. Benibo Anabraba and former CoS Edison Ehie.

Nonetheless, Fubara stated in the statement that the two would take their oaths of office at 2:00 pm.

The statement reads, “Governor of Rivers State, Sir Siminalayi Fubara, has appointed Dr. Dagogo S.A. Wokoma as the Secretary to the State Government (SSG) and Barrister Sunny Ewule as the Chief of Staff (COS). Both appointments are with immediate effect.

“The new appointees will be sworn in at 2:00 pm today, Thursday, February 26, 2026. The swearing-in ceremony will take place at the Exco Chamber, Government House, Port Harcourt.”
