African Democratic Congress (ADC) chieftain, Peter Obi, has declared that 2027 votes must count, warning that anyone who frustrates the electoral process will face the full weight of the law.

Obi said Nigerians must remain vigilant before, during and after casting their ballots in the 2027 general election. He urged voters to stay at their polling units to witness the counting and transmission of results.

According to him, the era of disputed mandates must end.

“Unlike in the past, in 2027 our votes must count,” Obi stated. “All those who are there not to count the votes will be counted among those destroying Nigeria.”

He encouraged citizens not to leave immediately after voting but to observe the counting process to ensure transparency and credibility.

Obi stressed that individuals who attempt to manipulate results or obstruct due process would be held accountable under the law.

“Those who refuse to allow the votes count will be made to count the full weight of the law against rigging,” he said.

The former Anambra state governor reiterated that undermining the integrity of elections amounts to undermining Nigeria’s democracy and future.

“If you do not count our votes, we will count you among those who destroy our democracy, thereby destroying our future, and you must answer to the law,” Obi added.

Chronicle NG reports that political conversations around the 2027 election have intensified in recent months, with opposition figures calling for electoral reforms, improved transparency and stronger civic participation.

Obi’s remarks are likely to energise his supporters and reinforce calls for strict compliance with electoral guidelines.

As preparations gradually begin for the next election cycle, attention is already shifting to how Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) will guarantee credible polls and restore public confidence in Nigeria’s democratic process.
