Some members of the Labour Party and other political parties in Oyo State defected to the African Democratic Congress, ADC.

They were met by the state chairman of ADC, Yinka Olona, at the unveiling of the South Senatorial District at Foko, in the Ibadan South-West Local Government area of the state.

Olona stated that the party, as the only one with a viable internal democracy, assured the new members of the required support.

He said, “The ADC remains the hope of the masses in Nigeria as other parties have failed in the implementation of their various policies.

“There is neither discrimination nor imposition of candidates in the ADC, unlike other political parties, where Godfatherism has become the order of the day.

“There is laid down a principle and procedure for the members aspiring for political offices. As long as the aspirant can comply, there will not be any hindrance(s). You are all free to contest for any elective office at the local, state and national levels.

“The Nigerians are looking on to the ADC to deliver them from the increasing poverty rate, insecurity and other menaces that are bedeviling the country.

The Chairman urged members to avoid thuggery and other vices that could jeopardize the party’s good objectives for 2027.

Aderibigbe Aderoju, a former member of the Labour Party who is now an ADC member, stated in his speech that “our decision to join the party is hinged on its mass-oriented policies.”
