Terrorists raided the Dogon Ruwa village in Bashar District, Wase Local Government Area, Plateau State, on Sunday evening, killing one resident and kidnapping an Imam, Abdulrashidi Baduku, along with six others.

The men were allegedly attacked while producing charcoal for commercial purposes on the fringes of the village.

Wase’s rural settlements have recently been centers for repeated banditry and kidnappings.

Shapi’i Sambo, a youth leader in Wase, confirmed the incident to the press, calling it unexpected and brutal.

“The victims were processing charcoal when gunmen suddenly stormed the area. An Imam from Jama’atu Izalatil Bid’a Wa’ikamatis Sunnah, Malam Abdulrashid Baduku, was among those abducted,” Sambo said.

He added, “Residents trailed the attackers but could not apprehend them due to the darkness. The attack has triggered widespread panic among locals.”

Sambo mentioned that security forces had been deployed to the area, with reinforcements sent to bolster operations and restore calm among residents.

The Plateau State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Alabo Alfred, has yet to respond to inquiries regarding the ongoing violence in Dogon Ruwa.

On July 29, 2025, terrorists ambushed soldiers and vigilantes, killing two soldiers and two vigilantes.

Recently, gunmen raided the Sabon Gari and Zak communities, killing five residents and one soldier.
