President Bola Tinubu has assured Nigerians that his administration will decisively defeat terrorism and banditry, describing insecurity as an unacceptable threat to national unity and economic development.

The President gave the assurance on Monday while delivering his opening remarks at the National Executive Council (NEC) Conference on Inclusive Growth and Sustainable National Development.

According to Tinubu, insecurity remains one of the most pressing challenges confronting the nation, admitting that the activities of terrorists and bandits have caused deep concern across all levels of government.

“It is what has kept all of us sleepless at night, but I assure you that we will win with determination and resiliency,” the President said.

“We will overcome this unacceptable terrorism and banditry. It is not part of our culture; it is foreign to us.”

Tinubu stressed that insecurity poses a major economic burden, warning that sustainable development would remain elusive without lasting solutions.

“It is an economic encumbrance if we do not find a solution to it,” he added.

The President commended several state governors for their efforts in safeguarding lives and property, singling out the governors of Borno, Katsina and Kaduna states for praise.

“I commend many of you, particularly the governors of Borno State, Katsina and Kaduna, who have done so much to defend our freedom, liberty and our commonwealth,” he said.

On economic reforms, Tinubu disclosed that his administration is strengthening macroeconomic stability through improved revenue generation, stronger public financial management and better fiscal coordination.

He said infrastructure development in transportation, power, digital connectivity, housing and irrigation remains a priority, describing them as critical drivers of inclusive growth.

The President also revealed that his government has expanded social investment and human capital programmes aimed at supporting vulnerable households, women, youths and small businesses.

According to him, the Renewed Hope Ward Development Project underscores the administration’s commitment to grassroots development through a bottom-up governance approach.

Tinubu further unveiled the Renewed Hope National Development Plan 2026–2030, describing it as evidence-based, realistic and focused on inclusive, balanced and environmentally sustainable growth.

He noted that the success of the plan would largely depend on effective implementation by state and local governments to align national priorities with local realities.
