President Bola Tinubu welcomed a high-level delegation from the World Bank at the Presidential Villa in Abuja on Tuesday.
The delegation was led by Anna Bjerde, Managing Director of Operations at the World Bank.
Vice President Kashim Shettima, Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy Wale Edun, and other government officials attended the meeting.
Bayo Onanuga, the president’s special adviser on information and strategy, confirmed the meeting in a post on X.
He wrote, “President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, along with VP Kashim Shettima, received a delegation from the World Bank led by the Managing Director of Operations, Anna Bjerde, in the State House, Abuja, on Tuesday, February 3, 2026.”
The specifics of the negotiations were not disclosed at the time of reporting this report.
The meeting comes just 48 hours after Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu welcomed a World Bank group at Lagos House in Marina on Sunday.
Bjerde also headed the delegation, which included Ethiopia Tafara, the International Finance Corporation’s Regional Vice President for Africa.
