The hometown of Adamawa State Governor Ahmadu Fintiri, Madagali, was invaded early Tuesday by suspected terrorists, who kidnapped six family members.

SP Suleiman Nguroje, spokesman for the state Police Command, stated this in a statement issued Tuesday morning.

According to Nguroje, a police and military rescue squad is hunting for the abducted family members.

The statement reads, “The Adamawa State Police Command has confirmed an attack on Gare Village, Pallam District, Madagali Local Government Area, in the early hours of today by suspected terrorists, which led to the abduction of six (6) family members and the rustling of livestock.

“Upon receipt of the report, the Command immediately intensified collaboration and deployed additional personnel and operational assets in a joint operation involving the Nigeria Police Force, troops of the 144 Battalion, and the Civilian Joint Task Force (CJTF) to the affected area and surrounding communities.”

According to the statement, Dankombo Morris, Commissioner of Police, Adamawa State Command, has directed ongoing search-and-rescue operations, reinforced patrols, and increased security presence in Madagali and other border communities to ensure the victims’ safe rescue and return and to prevent future threats.

Nguroje stated, “The Command, in collaboration with the Nigerian Army and other sister security agencies, remains fully committed to protecting lives and properties across the State. Further updates will be communicated.”

Fintiri began a tour of the state’s 21 local governments on Tuesday to review the security situation and other challenges facing residents in their communities.

The Hong Local Government was also attacked recently, resulting in the deaths of 12 individuals and the destruction of properties.

Over 20 people were killed in a communal unrest between the Bachaman and Chobo communities of Adamawa State’s Lamurde Local Government Area earlier this year.
