The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) has issued travel and safety advice to prospective corps members in the 2026 Batch A Stream I, asking them to put their safety first when traveling to their orientation camps.

According to a statement on the NYSC NDHQ’s X handle on Tuesday, NYSC advised, “Corps members must undertake their journeys only during the daytime, warning against night travel due to increased security and road safety risks.”

According to the advisory, “Prospective corps members are encouraged to use registered transport companies and approved motor parks to reduce exposure to unsafe travel conditions.”

The NYSC also recommended travelers disclose their current location with family members or trusted contacts throughout their journey, stating that this could be useful in an emergency.

Furthermore, corps members were instructed to speak up if drivers were speeding or driving recklessly, emphasizing that remaining silent in such cases could endanger lives.

NYSC also highlighted the need of having mobile phones fully charged and carrying power banks to maintain ongoing communication when traveling.

The advice further stated that prospective corps members should not hesitate to stop their travel and resume the next day if it grows too late, emphasizing that no journey is worth jeopardizing one’s life.

The NYSC reaffirmed its commitment to the safety and well-being of all corps members, urging strict adherence to the standards as the 2026 Batch A Stream I orientation exercise approaches.
