US President Donald Trump has posted a picture of himself as the “acting president of Venezuela” a week after the United States ‘captured’ Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro and flew him out of his country.

The doctored photo post shared on his Truth Social media platform on Sunday mimicked his Wikipedia page.

In the photo, Trump declared himself the South American country’s acting leader in January 2026.

After the US apprehended Maduro and his wife, Cilia Flores, Trump stated that the US will take over Venezuela’s affairs.

“We don’t want to be involved with having somebody else get in and end up with the same situation we’ve had for a long period of years,” he said, adding that any transition “has to be judicious, because that’s what we’re all about. ”

Delcy Rodriguez, Maduro’s vice president and oil minister, was subsequently sworn in as interim president. Trump described Rodríguez as “gracious.”

Trump threatened Rodríguez that if she didn’t cooperate, she would face “probably worse” consequences than Maduro.

Trump’s warning came as he announced that Venezuela will deliver between 30 and 50 million barrels of oil to the United States.

He also requested that Venezuela cut connections with China, Cuba, Russia, and Iran and work entirely with the United States on oil production.

Rodriguez stated that her country would open up its oil market to Washington.
