The family of Anda Damisa, the Nigerian influencer better known as Lazywrita, has spoken out following his death.
In a joint statement shared on Instagram, the family thanked Nigerians and members of the creative community for the outpouring of love and support they have received during what they described as a deeply painful period.
“On behalf of Lazywrita’s family, we want to thank everyone for the love, prayers, kind messages, and support we’ve received during this incredibly painful time,” the statement reads.
“We are heartbroken and still trying to process this loss. We kindly ask for less calls, texts instead, privacy and understanding as we grieve and support one another.
“Thank you for respecting our space and keeping us in your thoughts and prayers.”
On December 29, a message appeared on Lazywrita’s Instagram page announcing his passing. The influencer had reportedly committed suicide a few days before the post went live.
The post, which included photos and a farewell message, sparked widespread reactions online, with friends, colleagues, and followers expressing shock and grief.
“Don’t cry for me please o. I lived a full and adventurous life, people who know me can testify, I just don’t have the energy to continue anymore,” Lazywrita wrote.
“Now, I am Happy, Unburdened and FREEEEEE!!! The only things I regret is not watching the new episodes of Stranger Things and not getting married to the LOML when I had a chance to till she moved on.”
