Gunmen have killed two people in separate attacks on the Adabka and Mashayar Zaki communities in Zamfara State.
Chronicle NG gathered from a report by Security Analysis and Counter-Insurgency Expert (West Africa) Zagazola Makama on Wednesday that three others were injured in the incidents.
According to the report, about 43 gunmen raided Adabka Village in Bukkuyum Local Government Area around 11:30 a.m. and opened fire, killing a 45-year-old man on the spot.
His body, according to the report, was later taken to the hospital for an autopsy before being released to his family for burial in line with Islamic rites.
Makama, citing police sources, stated that an investigation has commenced, and efforts are underway to locate the assailants.
Shortly thereafter, the report revealed that another group of armed individuals allegedly attacked Mashayar Zaki Village along the Gusau–Dansadau Road in Maru Local Government Area, resulting in one death and three injuries before escaping.
Efforts to contact the spokesperson for the state police command, Yazid Abubakar, were unproductive, as his phone went unanswered, and text and WhatsApp messages sent to him remained unanswered by the time of publication.
The assaults took place less than a day after the detention of a 32-year-old individual believed to have tried to acquire ammunition from the Federal Capital Territory for criminals active in Zamfara State was reported.
