Governor Chukwuma Soludo of Anambra state presented a N757 billion budget proposal for 2026 to the state House of Assembly for approval.

Soludo stated that the proposed budget, titled ‘Changing Gears 3.0: Solution Continues,’ represented an increased emphasis on the implementation of his administration’s revolutionary strategy.

He stated that capital expenditures totaled N595.3 billion, accounting for 79% of the budget.

According to him, N 161.6 billion was budgeted for recurrent expenditure, which accounts for 21% of the entire budget amount.

The governor stated that the budget has a deficit of N225.7 billion, which would be covered by hybrid funding alternatives, public-private partnerships, increased internally produced revenue, concessions, and financial institution support.

“I present to you the proposed 2026 budget, totaling N757,884,487,705. Compared to the 2025 budget of N606.99 billion, this represents a 24.1 percent increase.

“We recorded over 60 percent budget performance in 2025. Despite it being an election year, we remained focused and in execution mode.

“The 2026 budget framework is designed to drive growth across all sectors. We remain committed to responsible fiscal management, with no borrowing for consumption.

“I want to assure you that every kobo will be prudently utilized to maximize value for the people of Anambra, and we will continue to lay the foundation for the prosperous, livable, and smart homeland we envisioned,” he said.

Somtochukwu Udeze, Speaker of the House, praised the Governor for the vast ongoing transformation initiatives throughout the state as he received the budget.

He told the governor that the draft budget would be reviewed promptly and thoroughly.

According to the News Agency of Nigeria, the difference between the prior budget (N606 billion) and the proposed budget (N757 billion) is N151 billion, representing a 24.1 percent rise.
