The trailer for Michael, the long-awaited biopic about the life and legacy of pop icon Michael Jackson, has finally been released.
Lionsgate unveiled the trailer on Thursday, confirming that the film will hit cinemas and IMAX screens worldwide on April 24, 2026.
Directed by Antoine Fuqua, Michael has faced multiple delays — originally planned for April 2025, later pushed to October, before reshoots extended production. Filming wrapped in May 2024.
The trailer showcases Jaafar Jackson, Michael’s nephew and Jermaine Jackson’s son, bringing the King of Pop back to life with uncanny energy, vocals, and signature dance moves. Dressed in glittering jackets, fedoras, and glove, Jaafar channels his uncle’s legendary stage presence in electrifying performances that capture the magic of Thriller and beyond.
According to Lionsgate, Michael is “the cinematic portrayal of one of the most influential artists the world has ever known,” tracing Jackson’s journey from child prodigy in the Jackson Five to global superstardom.
The film delves into both his personal life and artistic genius, giving fans an intimate, front-row view of the man behind the music.
Produced by Graham King, John Branca, and John McClain, with a screenplay by John Logan, Michael also stars Colman Domingo as Joe Jackson, Nia Long as Katherine Jackson, Kat Graham, and Miles Teller.
Michael Jackson, celebrated worldwide for his groundbreaking albums and signature dance moves, died in June 2009. Yet his influence endures — he was recently named Forbes’ highest-paid deceased celebrity for the third consecutive year and the 13th time overall.
