Super Eagles captain William Troost-Ekong has issued a tough message to Group C rivals South Africa and the Benin Republic following Nigeria’s hard-fought 2-1 victory over Lesotho in the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers.

The center-back, who scored in the match on Friday night in Polokwane, took to social media shortly afterward to show his belief in Nigeria’s qualification chances.

In a quick but forceful post on X on Friday, Ekong wrote, “It ain’t over till it’s over.”

His message emphasized the Super Eagles’ trust in their chances, despite remaining third in Group C with 14 points, trailing Benin Republic and South Africa.

Troost-Ekong gave Nigeria the perfect start in the 55th minute by converting a penalty after a handball in the Lesotho box, sending home fans wild.

Akor Adams then increased the lead with a precise goal in the 80th minute, apparently putting Nigeria in command.

Lesotho answered in the 83rd minute with Kalake’s strike, but the Eagles held on to secure the critical three points.

However, the Republic of Benin won their own match, keeping their lead in the group standings.

With only one game remaining, Nigeria’s qualification fate is not completely in their control.

Benin presently leads the group with 17 points, followed by South Africa with 15 and Nigeria in third with 14.

To automatically qualify for the 2026 World Cup, the Super Eagles must defeat the Benin Republic by at least two goals in their last group match while simultaneously praying that South Africa loses against Rwanda.
