APC is a structure of darkness, will collapse before 2027 – Udenta

Prof Udenta Udenta, the Alliance for Democracy’s founding National Secretary, has cautioned that Nigeria’s All Progressives Congress (APC) is a frail institution that cannot survive the country’s political destiny.

Udenta issued this warning on Tuesday during an interview with ARISE News.

He referred to the APC as “a structure of darkness” that has weaponized governmental institutions to consolidate its power.

“This is a structure of darkness. This is a structure that will collapse on its own,” he declared.

He also alleged that the Independent National Electoral Commission is becoming an extension of the ruling party’s machinery.

“INEC has become a weapon in the hands of APC, used to legitimize electoral robbery and violence,” he alleged, adding that the judiciary has also been compromised.

Udenta said that the 2027 general election would be pivotal, especially if former President Goodluck Jonathan chose to run.

“That panic is that 2027 will be a day of reckoning. That becomes more acute if Jonathan contests that election,” he said.

He warned that only a united opposition could prevent the APC from tightening its grip on power, saying, ‘If PDP and the Labour Party do not come together, the APC will destroy this country beyond recognition.”

Speaking on governance, he accused the ruling party of deepening Nigeria’s crises:

He stated, “What APC has done is to collapse the economy, collapse security, collapse cohesion, and collapse legitimacy.”

According to Udenta, Nigerians are increasingly disillusioned with the government and would decisively reject the APC if credible alternatives emerged.

“This country cannot continue like this. The people are waiting, the people are watching, and the people are suffering.

“2027 is not just another election. It is the soul of the country that will be contested,” he added.

Udenta has been a vocal critic of Tinubu’s second-term presidential ambitions.

In July, he labelled talks about Tinubu’s probable running mate for the 2027 election as a deliberate humiliation of Vice President Kashim Shettima.

He further stated that the fact that APC governors and other important party officials have already endorsed Tinubu for a second term while maintaining silence about Shettima’s role indicates a purposeful strategy within the party.
