President Bola Tinubu has issued an encouraging message to Nigeria’s Super Falcons, urging them to win a record-extending 10th Women’s Africa Cup of Nations title tonight at the Olympic Stadium in Rabat.

The President’s message, given in a personally signed statement on Saturday, emphasises the nation’s deep pride and unshakeable support for the team.

In his speech, Tinubu praised the Super Falcons’ “awe-inspiring” performance throughout the tournament.

He praised their sense of dignity, honour, and strength both on and off the pitch, emphasising their exceptional sporting behaviour.

The president praised the team’s compassionate visit to Gabriela Salgado of South Africa’s Banyana Banyana, citing their shared humanity, empathy, and sisterly affection.

Tinubu emphasised the team’s dominant statistics, stating that if “statistics alone win matches, you are already champions.”

He mentioned their unbeaten record in the group stages, victory in the knockout rounds, and surrendering only one goal in the semi-finals.

Furthermore, he reminded the players of their perfect record in past WAFCON finals, in which they had won all nine.

Tinubu stated that a high-powered presidential delegation would travel to Rabat to cheer on the squad to victory.

The group comprises Hannatu Musawa, Minister of Arts, Culture, Tourism, and the Creative Economy; Doris Uzoka-Anite, Minister of State for Finance; Imaan Suleiman-Ibrahim, Minister of Women Affairs; and Shehu Dikko, Chairman of the National Sports Commission, among others.

The president also congratulated the Super Falcons’ families, coaches, friends, the Nigerian community in Morocco, the Nigeria Football Supporters Club, and the Nigerian Mission in Morocco for their continued support during the campaign.

Concluding his message with a strong call to action, Tinubu stated, “You will finish strong by the Grace of God. Go for the tenth! Bring the trophy home. Your fellow countrymen and women, young and old, are rooting for you.”

He expressed excitement about receiving the squad, the prized trophy, and authorities in Abuja upon their triumphant return.
