Senator Francis Adenigba Fadahunsi, who represents Osun East Senatorial District in the National Assembly, has officially resigned from the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP.

The lawmaker disclosed his resignation in a letter he personally signed, dated June 12, 2025. The letter was addressed to the Ward Party Chairman of Ward 4, Obokun Local Government Area, Osun State.

Explaining the reasons behind his decision, Senator Fadahunsi pointed to internal crises within the PDP since the 2023 general elections, including prolonged legal battles and internal divisions.

In his resignation letter, Fadahunsi wrote, “I wish to formally notify you that I am resigning my Membership of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) with immediate effect, due to the irreparable, irreconcilable differences and protracted legal battles that have bedeviled the party at the National level after the 2023 general elections.

“This was concluded after consultation and engagement with my political associates, family and friends.

“It is my wish that you accept my resignation in good faith.

    “Thank you for your understanding.”

The senator noted that the decision came after extensive consultations with his family, friends, and political allies.

Meanwhile, a PDP stalwart in Ilesa, who spoke to Daily Post on condition of anonymity, revealed that the senator’s departure had been anticipated.

According to the source, Senator Fadahunsi had long become disinterested in party activities and had been considering an exit for some time, despite efforts to persuade him to remain.
