The Federal Capital Territory Police Command captured three wanted kidnappers and bandits after a concerted intelligence-led operation.

The suspects are Abdulkadir Abubakar of Mpape, Abuja; Mohammed Tasiu Sani, 25, of Rigina, Kaduna State; and Suleiman Jibrin, 27, of Sabon-Gayan, Kaduna State.

According to reports, they were arrested on Sunday, June 29, 2025, as part of an operation that included Wukushi in Mpape and Rigina in Kaduna.

According to a statement issued on Tuesday by the Command Police Public Relations Officer, Josephine Adeh, the apprehended individuals operated known abduction camps in Kaduna State’s Kachia and Rigina forests.

She mentioned that these camps served as detention sites for kidnap victims and have been linked to multiple abductions across Jere, Kajuru, and parts of the FCT.

Adeh said, “In the continued effort to rid the Federal Capital Territory and its environs of all forms of criminality, the operatives of the Command, acting on the strategic directive of the Commissioner of Police FCT, CP Ajao Adewale, have achieved a breakthrough with the arrest of three notorious and wanted kidnappers/bandits.

“The arrest was carried out on 29th June, 2025, on the heels of actionable intelligence, and a well-coordinated operation led by ACP Victor O. Godfrey, spanning Wukushi and Mpape in the FCT, and Rigina, Kaduna State, led to the arrest of Abdulkadir Abubakar of Mpape, FCT; Mohammed Tasiu Sani, 25 years, of Rigina, Kaduna State; and Suleiman Jibrin, 27 years, from Sabon-Gayan, Kaduna State.

“The suspects were known to operate deadly camps within the forests of Kachia and Rigina in Kaduna State, where victims were held for extended periods and have been linked to several kidnapping incidents across Jere, Kajuru, and parts of the Federal Capital Territory.”

Adeh stated that a functioning motorcycle, also known as a “Boko Haram motorcycle”, was found during the operation and that operations are still underway to recover further weapons and apprehend other fleeing collaborators.

Adeh stated that the suspects are currently in custody and supporting the police with additional investigations to dismantle their criminal network.

She continued by stating that their detention is an important step in the command’s attempts to restore peace and security throughout the territory.
