Tottenham Hotspur has officially named Thomas Frank as the club’s new head coach, following an extensive recruitment process that evaluated more than 30 potential candidates.

The appointment comes shortly after the club parted ways with Ange Postecoglou, despite his historic achievement of guiding Spurs to their first major trophy in 17 years by winning the Europa League.

To secure Frank’s services, Tottenham paid £10 million in compensation to London rivals Brentford.

Tottenham’s CEO, Vinai Venkatesham, explained the club’s selection process, “We ran a really, really thorough process at speed,” said Venkatesham.

“We defined 10 characteristics that we think are important to be a successful manager at Tottenham Hotspur. We analysed in real detail through our technical staff led by Johan Lange more than 30 candidates.”

He added that Frank stood out among the shortlisted names, “We had a shortlist, we spent a lot of time with the shortlist, and Thomas was absolutely the number one candidate. I could not be more excited to have him join the club.”

Praising Frank’s development ethos, Venkatesham also noted, “I agree with everything that Daniel said around his characteristics. Personally, one of the things I’m really excited about is he’s an outstanding developer of young players. I really look forward to seeing what he can do with the squad that we have here.”

Frank’s tenure as Spurs manager will begin with a Premier League fixture away at Luton Town on Saturday, 26 July, with kick-off scheduled for 3:00 p.m. at Kenilworth Road.
