Nigerian football legend Jay-Jay Okocha has advised Victor Osimhen to reflect carefully on his next move as interest in the striker continues to rise after a record-breaking loan spell at Galatasaray.

Speaking in an interview with Turkish broadcaster TRT Spor, reported by Haberler, Okocha encouraged Osimhen to weigh both emotional and professional satisfaction in his decision-making process.

The former Fenerbahçe star hinted that remaining at Galatasaray could be the right choice—even if it requires personal sacrifices.

“Turkey is a great place to play and live football,” Okocha said.

“Sometimes, you may need to make sacrifices when making decisions in football. Osimhen had a great season at Galatasaray. Ultimately, he is happy there. Why shouldn’t he stay with the team? I love Turkey. He loves it too.”

Osimhen, who joined Galatasaray on loan from Napoli, capped off an incredible season by scoring his 37th goal during the team’s 2–0 victory over İstanbul Başakşehir on Saturday. His outstanding form helped the Istanbul side secure both the league title and domestic cup.

Galatasaray’s head coach, Okan Buruk, praised the Nigerian international for his impact throughout the campaign, noting that while the forward’s future is still unclear, the club would love to retain him.

In a show of appreciation and support, Galatasaray fans have initiated a global #staywithus campaign, even going as far as displaying a billboard message in New York’s Times Square.

Although Osimhen has not publicly addressed his plans for next season, reports suggest that his agent has received a new contract proposal from Galatasaray. The offer, reportedly worth €15 million annually—€3 million more than his current deal—would make him the highest-paid player in the club’s history.

When asked whether he had insider knowledge of Osimhen’s next move, Okocha remained tight-lipped.

    “I don’t know,” he replied.

“Wherever he decides to go, I wish him the best.”

Reflecting on his own time in Turkey, Okocha described his two-year spell with Fenerbahçe between 1996 and 1998 as a memorable period in his career.

He said, “a wonderful two years,” citing the fans and local cuisine as unforgettable highlights. He ended with a tribute to his former club, stating, “The greatest is Fener.”
