The organisers of the Cannes Film Festival have introduced new dress code regulations, prohibiting nudity and overly voluminous outfits on the red carpet.

These rules were outlined in the Cannes Film festival’s official charter, along with explanations for the changes.

According to the organisers, the ban on nudity is intended to uphold “decency” throughout the event, while restrictions on large, elaborate outfits aim to prevent disruptions to guest movement and theater seating arrangements.

The charter explicitly states that festival staff will deny entry to anyone who fails to comply with the guidelines.

“For decency reasons, nudity is prohibited on the Red Carpet, as well as in any other area of the Festival,” the charter reads.

“Voluminous outfits, in particular those with a large train, that hinder the proper flow of traffic of guests and complicate seating in the theater are not permitted.

“The Festival welcoming teams will be obligated to prohibit Red Carpet access to anyone not respecting these rules.”

The festival, which is expected to be held from May 13 to 24, will preview films of all genres, including documentaries from all around the world.

’77: The Festac Conspiracy’, the Nigerian historical film, was selected to screen at this year’s edition.

The Nigerian historical epic ‘Osamede’ will be screened at the Cannes Film Market.
