The Kano State Police Command has detained 17 suspected thugs for allegedly planning a violent rally in the state capital.
The suspects were apprehended on Wednesday based on credible intelligence reports, according to a statement issued by the command’s spokesman, SP Abdullahi Haruna.
The arrests were made in collaboration with other security agencies, who had deployed personnel and assets to strategic locations across Kano metropolis to prevent a breakdown in law and order.
“As a result of these proactive measures, 17 suspected thugs have been arrested, and an investigation is ongoing. The command is committed to ensuring that the perpetrators of this planned violence are brought to justice,” the statement read.
The police advised against unauthorized meetings, processions, or any acts that could disrupt public peace and promised to respond decisively to any attempts to instigate violence.
“We urge residents to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities to security agencies. The command appreciates the cooperation and support of the good people of Kano State in maintaining peace and order,” Haruna added.
