The National Examination Council (NECO) has announced the release of the 2024 Senior School Certificate Examination (SSCE) External results, with 67.35% of candidates passing with five credits, including English Language and Mathematics.

A total of 84,799 candidates sat for the exams, comprising 44,227 males (52.21%) and 40,522 females (47.78%). Out of these, 57,114 candidates met the required pass mark.

Announcing the results at NECO’s headquarters in Minna, the Registrar and Chief Executive Officer, Prof. Dantani Ibrahim Wushishi, confirmed that the results were released 62 days after the final exam in a total of 29 subjects.

He also revealed a decline in examination malpractice cases, with 6,160 candidates booked for infractions—down from 8,518 in 2023, marking a 27.7% reduction.

    • NECO blacklists 14 exam centres over malpractice

A total of 14 examination centers across Ogun, Oyo, Lagos, Cross River, and Ebonyi states were blacklisted for engaging in widespread malpractice across nine subjects.

Additionally, seven supervisors were recommended for blacklisting due to poor supervision, lateness, and aiding malpractice.

Prof. Wushishi emphasized that, “Any supervisor caught involved in exam malpractice will not only be blacklisted, but their names will also be circulated to other exam bodies, including the Joint Admission and Matriculation Board (JAMB).”

He reaffirmed NECO’s commitment to maintaining the integrity of its examinations, ensuring that supervisors found guilty of malpractice are prevented from participating in future assessments.
