The Director General, Media and Publicity to the Governor of Kogi State, Kingsley Fanwo, has dismissed rumour that Governor Yahaya Bello is sick.

Reacting to online reports, Fanwo described that rumour as ‘spurious’ stating categorically that Bello is only on vacation and is due to return soon.

“My attention has been drawn to the spurious rumour doing the round that there are concerns over the health of the Kogi State Governor, Alh. Yahaya Bello,” he said in the statement issued on Monday.

“I want to state clearly here for the avoidance of doubt that the rumour lacks any iota of truth. It is a reflection of the depth the enemies of Kogi State have gone in their desperate angst against fate.

“To put the record straight, the Governor is hale and hearty, healthy and unwavering in his vigour to make Kogi State the Confluence of Excellence.

“I urge all Kogites of goodwill to discountenance the rumour as His Excellency will return from his two weeks break on the 12th of November, 2016.

“Let me also thank the good people of Kogi State for their love and sense of solidarity.”

Governor Bello has endured a torrid time from opposition parties since he emerged governor on 27 January 2016.

Last month, Fanwo stated that Governor Bello will not be intimidated by detractors.

“Since inception, Governor Yahaya Bello has been working on the Lokoja township roads. He has also ensured the street of Lokoja are cleaner than he met them. The archaic round-abouts had to go because they are at variance to the architectural Masterplan for Lokoja.

“Within nine months, the administration has been able to undertake a holistic Staff Verification Exercise to stop the waste of resources on unintended beneficiaries. Who smuggled fake names on the payrolls?

“Recently, Kogi State Government has awarded contracts for the rehabilitation of roads across the state and contractors have moved to sites. Governor Yahaya Bello cannot afford to fail the people, the generation he represents and the change he promised.

“New Direction is a departure from the era when billions of naira meant for Youth Empowerment Loans are shared by political dealers.
