Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) presidential candidate in the 2023 election and leader of the Kwankwasiyya Movement has congratulated Super Eagles Ademola Lookman for being crowned the African Player of the Year 2024.

Chronicle NG reported that Ademola Lookman was crowned 2024 CAF men’s ‘Player of the Year.’

The 27-year-old was announced the winner of the gong at the gala held in Marrakesh, Morocco, on Monday.

Kwankwaso wrote, ”Congratulations to our Nigerian star, Ademola Lookman on emerging the CAF African Player of the Year 2024”.

“Lookman had a great performance at the previous AFCON competition and is a reliable player for his team, Atalanta.

“The back to back victory for Nigeria in the CAF Men’s Category, after Victor Osimhen’s victory last year reflects the strong showing our country’s athletes put on their respective stages.

Chronicle NG reports that the last time Nigerian players won consecutive CAF men’s best player prizes was over 27 years ago. Nwankwo Kanu had won the award in 1996 then Victor Ikpeba claimed the gong the following year.

“I also send my felicitations to Chiamaka Nnadozie for winning the Best Women’s Goalkeeper Prize,” Kwankwaso added.

Zambia’s Barbra Banda beat Chiamaka Nnadozie to the women’s best player prize.

However, Nnadozie claimed the Golden Glove as the best goalkeeper for the second year in a row.
