Following repeated cases of assault arising from homosexuality in Kebbi State, the state police command yesterday arrested two suspects who allegedly raped two boys, aged 12 and nine, to death. The two arrests were made at different villages in the state.

Addressing newsmen yesterday at the police headquarter in Birnin Kebbi, the Commissioner of Police, Ibrahim M. Kabiru, said one Malam Ibrahim Yohana Mudi allegedly raped two boys aged 10 and 12 in Kalgo and Zuru Local Councils of the state, while 45-year-old Dantani Sani, raped a nine-year-old boy to death in Zauro town.

“Sani, from Sabon Gari area of Zauro town was arrested based on information that he had had sexual intercourse with a young boy, one Ibrahim Muhammadu Dangi, who is now deceased aged nine of the same village, against the order of nature. The offence was committed on July 31, 2017. Immediately after the assault, the deceased started purging and vomiting and later died few hours later on the same date.”

The police boss said the suspect would be charge to court for alleged culpable homicide.

Meanwhile, the long arm of the law has caught up with four armed robbers in Ogun State, who specialise in stealing cows and hijacking cement trucks.

They were arrested by policemen at the weekend, at Ofada area of Obafemi Owode Local Council of the state, while planning to rob some cattle rearers at Orile-Igbehin area of Ofada.

The four suspects, Madu Abuchi, Onyeka Okafor, Francis Onyeka, and Hafiz Mustapha, who had earlier in the week robbed the duo of Muhammed Ruga and Babuga, attacked the two herdsmen with cutlasses, and tied their hands and legs after beating them thoroughly before they made away with two big cows.

According to a statement by the Police Public Relations Officer, Abimbola Oyeyemi, made available to The Guardian yesterday, luck ran against them when they were coming for another operation, as information got to the police at Owode Egba division, consequent upon which the Divisional Police Officer, CSP Sheu Alao, led his men to effect their arrest.

“The suspects have been identified by their victims, they also confessed to have been the brains behind the hijacking of many cement-loaded trucks in the state and that one Femi who has houses in Shagamu and Itori is the receiver.

“Effort is going on to apprehend the said Femi. Recovered from them are three cutlasses, rope, iron rod, charms, jack knife, different types of handsets, an unregistered Bajaj motorcycle and green belts of a security agency,” he said.

The PPRO said the Commissioner of Police, Ahmed Iliyasu, has directed that the suspects be transferred to FSARS for discrete investigation.
