Former Governor of Ekiti State, Peter Ayodele Fayose, has disassociated himself from reports suggesting he has self-declared as the National Chairman of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) and was involved in the suspension of top party members, including former Vice President Atiku Abubakar and Governors Nyesom Wike and Seyi Makinde.

In a public statement released through his official X (formerly Twitter) handle, Fayose clarified that he has no intention of becoming the party’s chairman and remains unconnected to the current drama within the PDP.

“As at today, Ambassador Umar Damagum is the Chairman of the PDP, and I am not aspiring to be Chairman of the party,” the former Ekiti governor declared.

He further distanced himself from any speculations linking him to political maneuvering or conflicts within the party.

“I dissociate myself from media reports linking me with any self-declaration as Chairman of the PDP and suspension of the likes of former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, Governors Wike, Makinde, etc., from the party,” he stated.

Fayose took the opportunity to clarify that there are multiple individuals bearing the surname “Fayose” in Nigeria and urged the public to be cautious when consuming news.

“It is also important for the public to note that I’m not the only Fayose in Nigeria; there are many others. I am Peter Ayodele Fayose. As such, stories not clearly stating my name should be disregarded and treated as stories from any of the many other Fayoses in Nigeria,” he emphasized.

He advised the public to thoroughly read news content rather than relying on headlines alone. “The public should therefore endeavor to read the content of news stories, not just the headlines,” he added.

In a definitive tone, the former Ekiti State governor made it clear that he has no interest in any political role, either in the party or on a broader scale.

“Most importantly, I’m not part of the drama in the party and will never be. I am also not interested in any political office, either appointed or elective,” he concluded.

This statement follows recent controversies and shifting dynamics within the PDP, which has seen various factions and leaders at odds over the party’s direction and leadership.

Fayose’s remarks aim to set the record straight and affirm his neutrality in these internal disputes.

Chronicle NG reported earlier that Isaac Fayose brother to the former Ekiti governor, declared himself the new national chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

In a viral video posted via his Instagram page, Isaac went further to announce the suspension of some top members from the two factions of the party, such as Atiku Abubakar, Nyesom Wike, Ayo Fayose, Seyi Makinde, and other G5 members.
