The All Progressives Congress’ (APC) secretariat on Aba Road in Port Harcourt, Rivers State’s capital, has been rattled by an explosion in the early hours of Saturday.
The explosion brought down the secretariat’s gate, destroying doors, windows, and other property.
This is the second time this year that the APC, led by Chief Tony Okocha, has faced an attack on its secretariat.
This comes as local government elections are slated to take place in the state today, with the Rivers State Independent Electoral Commission stating on Friday that all sensitive materials have been transferred to the various local governments.
A viral video of the explosion scene, viewed by our correspondent, shows some staff at the facility inspecting the damage.
When reached, Grace Iringe-Koko, a spokeswoman for the state police command, stated that she had yet to receive a report on the incident but promised to respond.
The party has yet to issue a statement about the incident at the time of filing this report.
