No fewer than 51 vehicles have been impounded by the Lagos State Taskforce in a decisive operation to restore free vehicular movement in the state.

This was announced in a statement signed by Gbadeyan Abdulraheem, Director, Press and Public of the Task Force.

According to the statement, the Taskforce conducted a successful enforcement operation at Lawanson Bus Stop along Itire Road, where commercial buses, popularly referred to as Danfo, had caused untold traffic inconveniences to motorists.

led by the Chairman of the Agency, CSP Adetayo Akerele, the operation, which extended to Aina Street, Aboroshade Street, and Oseni Street, addressed long-standing complaints about illegal parking and commercial vehicles obstructing traffic around the axis.

The exercise, which began in response to observations made via the agency’s “See Something, Say Something” feedback mechanism, quickly cleared the unlawfully parked vehicles that had turned the roadways into jams.

Residents and commuters along this axis were relieved, noting that the previously impassable streets are now free of traffic congestion.

Expressing satisfaction over the operation, a resident said, “This is a new lease of life for us; the constant gridlock caused by illegally parked vehicles is finally gone. We can move in and out of our streets freely.”
