Sancho nears Man Utd exit as Juventus clinch loan deal

Jadon Sancho’s time at Manchester United appears to be drawing to a close, as Juventus has reached an agreement to sign the England international on an initial loan deal.

According to journalist, Fabrice Hawkins, the 24-year-old winger is set to join the Serie A club after Juventus managed to secure his services, beating out interest from Premier League rivals Chelsea.

The deal, initially thought to be a straightforward loan, now includes an obligation for Juventus to make the transfer permanent next summer. Sancho himself is reportedly eager for the move to Turin.

Chelsea’s attempt to sign the former Borussia Dortmund star fell through, largely due to their struggles in offloading Raheem Sterling. Chelsea manager Enzo Maresca had informed the 29-year-old Sterling that he would not be part of Chelsea’s first-team plans this season.

Although there were discussions of a swap deal involving Sterling and Sancho, Juventus acted swiftly, leveraging their sale of Federico Chiesa to Liverpool to finalize the deal with Manchester United.

Since his arrival at Old Trafford in 2021, Sancho has made 83 appearances for Manchester United but has struggled to make a significant impact, registering only 18 goal contributions. His most productive season saw him score six goals in the 2022-23 Premier League campaign.
