Allen Onyema makes unforced errors, should hire a PR expert – Omokri

The chairman and CEO of Air Peace, Chief Allen Onyema, has been advised to employ the services of a spokesperson to handle public relations affairs for the airline.

This was the advice given by Reno Omokri, a former aide to ex-president Goodluck Jonathan.

In a statement on X on Thursday, Omokri mentioned that the Airpeace boss “makes unforced errors, resulting in own goals.”

His comments come on the heels of the price war between Airpeace and other airlines operating the Lagos-London air route.

Omokri noted that the Air Peace boss shot himself in the foot when he stated that tickets for “Airpeace’s Lagos to London route are completely sold out until September 2024.”

Advising him to employ the services of a professional spokesperson, Omokri urged him to “consider separating ownership from speakership.”

Omokri’s statement reads, “Allen Onyema, the CEO of Air Peace, is charming and suave. He is a good brand ambassador for his airline. However, he is not a public relations expert. As a result, he makes unforced errors, resulting in his own goals. One such is his statement that Air Peace’s Lagos to London route is completely sold out until September 2024.

“His recent complaints alleging that foreign airlines have initiated a price war against him have made the claim of selling out until September slightly less credible and more challenging to believe. You cannot launch a price war for flights in April and May for tickets already sold out until September.

“Mr. Onyema may want to be seen more and heard less. Perhaps he could consider separating ownership from speakership.

“Air Peace may want to think of hiring the fellow who defended the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board when Mmesoma Ejikeme lied against JAMB, accusing them of changing her results, and almost unleashed an ethnic crisis in Nigeria when people like Oby Ezekwesili began insinuating that a Yoruba Muslim JAMB Registrar, Professor Ishaq Olanrewaju Oloyede, had it in for Mmesoma because she was an Igbo girl.

“Mr. Fabian Benjamin, the spokesperson of JAMB, is the best PR person I have witnessed in Nigeria in recent years, and he can use his enviable skills to both market and protect Air Peace.

“Mr. Benjamin will use the #GrowNairaBuyNaija wind to help Air Peace and Allen Onyema win this price war unleashed on them.”
