The Supreme Court on Friday upheld the election of Delta State Governor Sheriff Oborevwori’s.

In a unanimous ruling, a five-member panel of the Supreme Court dismissed an appeal brought by the All Progressives Congress (APC) and its candidate, Senator Ovie Omo-Agege, to contest the outcome of the state’s governorship election held on March 18, 2023.

The court, in its lead judgment issued by Justice Inyang Okoro, ruled that the appeal lacked merit.

It will be recalled that Chronicle NG reported that Senator Ovie Omo-Agege, the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate in Delta State, filed an appeal with the appellate court, challenging Oborevwori’s victory at the polls.

However, the court ruled that the appeal was without merit.

It will be recalled that on September 29, the Delta State Governorship Election Petition Tribunal in Asaba declared Oborevwori the victor of the March 18 governorship election.

Omo-Agege, the immediate past Deputy President of the Senate, had asked in his appeal to be proclaimed the winner of the election.
