The Minister of Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, is currently presiding over a security conference with security leaders to discuss the rising rate of kidnappings and killings in the nation’s capital.

The conference was attended by the heads of the Federal Capital Territory’s security services, senior representatives from the Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA), council chairmen, and traditional leaders.

Chronicle NG gathered that the FCT minister issued a directive to the chairmen to enhance their efforts and address the challenge effectively.
However, Wike encouraged Abuja residents not to worry.

During the discussion, the minister assured FCT inhabitants that normalcy would return to the nation’s capital.

Terrorists, bandits, and other criminals have escalated their heinous actions in the country over the past 48 hours, wreaking havoc in six states and the Federal Capital Territory.

According to reports, their violent actions in five of the country’s six geopolitical zones killed six people: 60 people were kidnapped, a corpse was seized, and millions of naira in commodities were stolen. The only zone unaffected by the strikes was the South-South.
It was also reported that the criminals had boosted their ransom demand from N60 million per individual to N100 million, totaling N700 million.

Residents claimed the victims were killed due to a ‘delay’ in raising the ransom required by the kidnappers.

According to reports, a 13-year-old high school student named Folorunsho Ariyo was among those killed.

On Sunday, it was reported that the kidnappers, who also operated in several Bwari areas, had Najeebah, one of the six abducted people in order to push the family to pay the necessary ransom promptly.
