Professor Ali Pate, the Coordinating Minister of Health and Social Welfare, has directed that a Joint Action Committee be constituted to investigate the crisis of unpaid salaries at the Obafemi Awolowo University (OAUTH), Ile-Ife, Osun State.

Chronicle NG reported in November that the federal government suspended Tajudeen Balogun the Acting Director, Administration at the teaching hospital, over his involvement in a job racketeering saga in the institution.

The Director, Media and Public Relations at the Federal Ministry of Health and Social Welfare, Patricia Deworitshe, disclosed this in a statement on Thursday.

“The Federal Ministry of Health and Social Welfare is fully aware of the lingering crisis at the Obafemi Awolowo University Teaching Hospital (OAUTH) over the issue of unpaid staff salaries.

The statement added that the committee’s conclusions will be made public within the next 10 days, along with specific suggestions on how to achieve a fair and equitable resolution to the matter.

It added, “We are particularly concerned about the plight of individuals affected by the unfortunate situation and we urge for patience as we are determined to judiciously unravel the matter and ensure that such a situation does not reoccur elsewhere in the future.”
