Nigerians have expressed their disappointment over a viral video of afrobeat stars Skales and Spyro performing at a carol service of a Pentecostal church in Lagos.

The trending video posted on X, formerly Twitter, showed the duo of Skales and Spyro performing their songs at the carol service of Harvesters International Christian Centre, pastored by renowned cleric Bolaji Idowu, popularly known as Pastor B.

Chronicle NG reports that this comes after a celestial church in Ibadan invited fuji maestro Wasiu Alabi Pasuma and controversial singer Portable to its 2023 Annual Adult Harvest Thanksgiving service.

Reacting to the video, X user Kennyd asked, “Is this proper to sing in a church? I like Pastor B o, but I don’t know what to say about this.”

Wondering what the church has been reduced to, Samzy said, “Imagine this on a Sacred Altar of God, But no, because “You love” Pastor B, you’ll keep mute. Imagine coming to church on Sunday for an encounter, and you meet this (referring to the video) on the altar! Tar!! Na only Portable never climb this stage. ”

“No words, I don’t Pastor B, and I don’t know the context hence again – no comments. The church is already facing too many battles and stripes. I won’t be part of it!” Daniel Najombong stated

“Celestial invited Portable to come and sing, you people said all sorts about celestial Una Pastor B invited Spyro, you are suddenly quiet. Alabosi ni gbogboyin (meaning you are hypocrites),” Marydiamond posted.

However, an X user, Miss Signage, coming in defence of the cleric, said, “I hope these people know Spyro is an active church member but most importantly, he’s still functional in the choir. Yesterday was a stage play, featuring other church members like Dorathy, Daniel Etim, and Skales. Can’t point out what Pastor B did wrong here! Agenda must agenda las las.”

“Stop saying Pastor B invited Spyro and Skales to perform in the church. They are active members of Harvesters church and serve in the creative unit of the church. When celebrities become your members, condemn them if you like, but till then, let Pastor B be please, ” Babari Kwesi Sibusiso said.

Mide, angrily stating his opinion, said, “Ya all are mad the church donated and gave back to people since last week back to back una no go talk im good because spyro performed at a Christmas carol ya started saying crap asive he ain’t a member of the church leave pastor B alone.”
