    Aisha Bello: Nigerians mourn veteran broadcaster’s death

    The death has been announced of Aisha Bello Mustapha, a seasoned newscaster with the Nigerian Television Authorities (NTA) in the late 90’s and early 2000.

    Following the announcement of the death of veteran broadcaster and journalist Aisha Bello, Nigerians on social media have continued to pour encomiums on the woman, whom many have described as a professional and model broadcaster.

    Chronicle NG reported earlier on Monday that Aisha Bello’s death was announced on Sunday in a statement by a member of her family.

    The statement reads, “Innalilahi wa inna Alaihin Rajiun. May Allah forgive our mother, Hajia Aishat Bello Mustapha.

    “Mama, indeed, you are a very kind-hearted person. We will miss you, and we hope you are enjoying Rahma.

    Reacting via X, formerly Twitter, HRH DUKE Usman Aliyu Hayatu said, “In a way – for the young people of our generation – Aisha Bello and her fellows gave identity to NTA, and not the other way round. May Allah have mercy upon your soul and reward you abundantly for especially, your iconic modesty.”

    Reminiscing the deceased days as newscaster of Nigeria Television Authority’s (NTA) network news, another X  user, Ummie, said, “We grew up watching this lady, Aisha katung / Aisha Bello. May her gentle soul rest in peace. Allah ya gafarta mata.

    Extending his condolence to the immediate family of the late broadcaster, Mahid Muazu Abubakar, the Police Public Relations Officer of Gombe State Police Command, said, “My Condolences to the immediate family, Staffs of @NTANewsNow and the entire Nigerians over the Demise of one of the favorite News broadcaster Aisha Bello. RIP Ma.”

    “Rest in peace Aisha Bello. One of the most striking and recognizable faces on the NTA News back in the day. Such class. Such professionalism. May God comfort your family and loved ones” Daddy MO another X user mourned

    Aisha Bello was a former General Manager of NTA Parliament and a notable NTA Network newscaster during the 1990s and the 2000s. She served for 35 years until retiring from active service in May 2022.

    Funeral prayers are expected to be held in Abuja central mosque 1 pm on Monday, 11th December 2023.
