Protest has engulfed Kano State following an Appeal Court ruling that upheld the dismissal of the state governor, Abba Yusuf
According to reports, police were able to disperse the demonstrators along the Dan Agundi area of the state.
This comes after a certified true copy of the Court of Appeal’s verdict on the state governorship race surfaced, contradicting the judgment read out in court on Friday.
Chronicle NG reports that the release of a certified true copy of the Court of Appeal verdict on the state governorship election caused confusion in Kano State on Tuesday.
While the court’s widely reported verdict last Friday indicated that the appellate court upheld the petition tribunal’s decision to sack Governor Abba Yusuf, the state Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice, Haruna Isa-Dederi, argued that the CTC of the judgment showed that Yusuf’s victory at the polls was affirmed by the appeal court.
The Kano State Police Command had earlier warned against any sort of protest following the Court of Appeal’s decision upholding the state governor’s dismissal.
