On the 22nd of February 2017, a Four-man armed robbery gang stormed and attacked a Zenith Bank in Owerri, Wetheral Road, Imo State, which left about 3 police men and five bank customers injured, and the one of the armed robbers dead.
CCTV released online shows the gun battle between the robbers and some policemen attached to the bank.
The robbers have since been arrested.
The leader of the gang has since been identified as Justice Ogbonna, aka, JJ. They were 4 in numbers and they all arrived the bank in a black Hyundai car.
Reports say they had earlier trailed a bank customer who wanted to deposit a huge amount of cash at the Zenith bank, Wetheral Road, Owerri branch.
They stormed the bank and shot indiscriminately. They also attacked the customer and carted away with the money, then shot him dead.
In the video shared on Facebook, you’d see a brave MOPOL Officer on white shoot dead one of the robbers whom the rest abandoned as they made away with their loot.
After six weeks of investigation, ring leader – Justice Ogbenna, aka JJ, and getaway driver Okechukwu Onwuamaegbu– were arrested in Aba, Abia State by operatives of the Imo State Police Command during activities marking to mark JJ’s father’s burial.
