As part of Sector 2 Joint Task Force Operation Hadin Kai, troops from the 159 Battalion Geidam attacked and killed six terrorists. They also retrieved weapons from the intense combat, including two AK-47 rifles, two motorcycles, and a cell phone.

The acting Assistant Director of Army Public Relations for Sector 2, Captain Muhammad Shehu, revealed this in a statement on Thursday.

He stated that the operation, which resulted in the deaths of two rebels, was carried out on Wednesday, October 25, in Jororo village in Geidam Local Government Area (LGA) of Yobe State following tips from the residents and actionable intelligence.

“Troops of Sector 2 Joint Task Force (North-East) Operation Hadin Kai have continued to sustain the aggressive posture in the conduct of ongoing operations to rid the North-East region of terrorism, insurgency and sundry crimes within the Sector’s Area of Responsibility,” Shehu said.

“In recent operations, troops of 159 Battalion acting on actionable intelligence on 25th October 2023, staged an ambush against marauding insurgents who were harassing civilians and collecting levies from the locals.

“During the encounter, the troops neutralized two terrorists and recovered weapons and items including two AK-47 rifles, two motorcycles and a mobile phone in a fierce firefight, while others escaped in disarray with gunshot injuries at Jororo village in Geidam Local Government Area (LGA) of Yobe State” the state reads in part.

Shehu reported that troops from the 233 Battalion killed four terrorists and collected weapons on Thursday, October 26, in an operation identical to this one in Babbangida in the state’s Tarmuwa Local Government.

The military action was prompted by intelligence allegations that the local government’s Bajingo and Kurnawa villages were home to suspected terrorists.

Shehu stated that in addition to other random objects, the military also found two motorbikes following the gunfight.

Major General Mayirenso Saraso, the commander of Sector 2 Joint Task Force, praised the soldiers for their prompt action and promised to provide them with all the assistance they need to bring peace to the Northeast, which is plagued by the Boko Haram insurgency.
