Nigeria has once more been plunged into darkness following the collapse of the national grid system, which is run by the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) out of Osogbo in Osun State.
According to a check Chronicle NG in the early hours of today, only 273 megawatts of power were produced on the grid, by just two of the more than 27 electricity producing facilities.
It was only a week ago that TCN celebrated the shaky 400 days of grid stability by rolling out the drum.
The National grid as gathered by Chronicle NG reportedly collapsed at 00:41 AM and that the majority of their feeders are not working.
Five generating facilities were connected to the grid as of 4:00 a.m. on Thursday. Afam VI had 0.70MW, Dadinkowa was producing 0.00MW, Ibom Power had 32.90MW, Jebba had 240MW, and Olorunsogo had no generation at all but was connected to the grid.
The entire power on the system was 35 MW at approximately 1 AM, suggesting a complete collapse of the nation.
When this report was filed, the grid had climbed to 273MW from 193MW at around 3AM.
The Transmission Company of Nigeria TCN is yet react over the development, as at time of writing this report.
