First Lady Remi Tinubu, the Chairperson of the Renewed Hope Initiative Foundation, has donated the sum of N500 million to 500 families affected by violent conflicts in six local government areas of Plateau State.

Remi Tinubu, who was in Jos on Tuesday to make the donation and express condolences to the victims, urged them not to lose hope while her husband and other stakeholders fight to maintain long-term peace in communities.

She stated at the Government House, “I am aware of the unfortunate crisis that bedevilled the state, particularly the Mangu people. The report got me worried and concerned about the destruction of peace in the affected families.

“I can imagine the destruction of lives and properties. A time like this is not a time to come and express our sympathies, but to take concrete actions to alleviate the sufferings of those affected. That is why we are here today, not just to sympathise with you but to offer our meagre support.

“This N500 million is our modest support to enable affected families to renew their lives as we provide them with the means to renew their shelter and other essential needs. To the affected families, I want you to know that you are not alone in the journey of recovery; we stand with you in solidarity and prayers. I urge you not to lose hope but to have faith in God.”

In his remarks, the State Governor, Caleb Mutfwang, praised Mrs. Tinubu for the gesture, describing her as “a very compassionate leader who has passion for humanity and was not ready to play politics with her love for humanity.”

The governor urged the beneficiaries to use the resources judiciously and also be their brothers keepers by sharing with other families who were not selected.

Speaking also, Mrs. Chioma Uzodinma, who was on the first lady’s entourage, said, “These 500 families were carefully selected through the office of the State Governor for six local governments: Mangu, Riyom, Barkin Ladi, Bassa, Bokkos, and Jos South LGA, respectively, to ensure that those who are affected are the direct beneficiaries.”

Da Jacob Buba, the Gbong Gwom Jos,  who presented the vote of appreciation, praised the First Lady and asked for wisdom for President Bola Tinubu as he continues to steer the nation’s affairs.
