Harry Kane has praised Bayern Munich’s “top mentality” while covertly criticizing  his old club Tottenham, claiming he needs to win every game in Bavaria to meet the club’s expectations.

The Tottenham veteran, who joined Bayern for £100 million this summer, has had a good start to life in Munich, netting three goals in three league appearances since his arrival.

Kane, who will captain England against Ukraine on Saturday, reflected on his debut month at the Bundesliga powerhouse ahead of the Euro 2024 qualifier.

“We wanted to win at Spurs, but if you went a couple of games without winning, it wasn’t a disaster. At Bayern, you have to win every game,’ the 30-year-old forward said.

“After winning 3-1 and 4-0 in our first two games, there was talk about not being too happy about the way we played! Top club mentality.”

Kane headed to Bayern in search of additional silverware after failing to win a single major prize at Tottenham despite becoming the club’s all-time leading striker.

Bayern Munich has an incredible domestic record in Germany, having won the Bundesliga for the 11th consecutive season on the season’s final day in May.

On Kane’s debut, Bayern lost 3-0 to Red Bull Leipzig, with the former Tottenham Hotspur star coming off the bench in the second half as Thomas Tuchel’s team crashed out of the German Cup.

Kane has since impressed in attack, scoring once against Werder Bremen and twice against Augsburg at home, bringing his Bundesliga goal total to three.

Spurs, who finished ninth last season and failed to qualify for Europe, have performed admirably after losing their star player this summer, moving up to second in the league behind Manchester City ahead of the international break.

Tottenham’s new signing James Maddison and star forward Son Heung-min have taken on the goalscoring responsibilities since Kane’s exit, with the latter netting a hat-trick in a 5-2 win over Burnley last weekend.
