Manchester City has secured the services of talented Belgian winger Jeremy Doku from French club Rennes.

The deal, which was finalized on Thursday, will see the 21 year old winger donning the City colours for the next five years.

Doku, according to report is said to cost the European champions £55 million ($70 million).

“This is a great day for me, both personally and professionally,” Doku said in a statement.

“Manchester City are the best team in world football, so to be joining them is something very special for me and my family.

“I am a young player with so much learning and improving to do. Working with Pep (Guardiola) and his staff, and playing alongside these work-class players, will make me a much better player.”

Doku, who made his debut as a youth with Anderlecht in his native Belgium, scored 12 goals in 92 games for Rennes.

After Mateo Kovacic and Josko Gvardiol, two Croatian internationals, he is City’s third acquisition of the summer window.

The triple winners were searching for a winger to take Riyad Mahrez’s spot after he joined the Saudi team Al-Ahli.

Before the transfer window closes on September 1, City are also anticipated to acquire a midfielder to fill in for Kevin De Bruyne, who is anticipated to miss up to four months owing to a hamstring injury.

Following the breakdown of interest in West Ham’s Lucas Paqueta due to a Football Association investigation into the Brazilian’s potential violation of betting laws, Matheus Nunes of Wolves and Eberechi Eze of Crystal Palace are reportedly targets.
