The National Union of Air Transport Employees has urged the Aviation Security and Logistics sub-sector to go on strike on Wednesday, August 16, 2023, following poor salaries.
This was contained in a circular sent to the Director-General of Civil Aviation, the Managing Director of the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria, the Commissioner of Police, Airports Command, the Airport Commandant, the Director of State Security, Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos Command, and the Airport Commandant.
The circular, written by NUATE General Secretary, Comrade Ocheme Aba, bemoaned the fact that AVSEC graduates are only paid N30,000 per month.
He went on to say that previous attempts to negotiate higher compensation for its members had failed.
