    NECO registers over 1.2m SSCE candidates

    The National Examinations Council, NECO, has said no fewer than 1.2 million candidates have registered for the on-going 2023 Senior School Certificate Examination, SSCE, being conducted by it.

    According to a statement issued Friday by Azeez Sani, the exams body’s Head of Information and Public Relations, the Registrar/Chief Executive of NECO, Prof. Dantani Ibrahim Wushishi, observed the conduct of the test at several schools.

    “Prof. Wushishi revealed that 601,074 of these candidates are male, while 584,814 are female,” he stated.

    “Based on reports from across the country, he expressed satisfaction with the overall conduct of the 2023 SSCE.”

    The Registrar stated that the 2023 SSCE, which will be held next week, will be the finest organized in previous years.

    “Prof. Wushishi revealed that various measures had been put in place to combat examination malpractice and that the measures had begun to yield positive results.”

    “The Registrar who oversaw the examination at Airforce Military School, King and Queens Academy, and Emmanuel International College, all in Jos, expressed satisfaction with the way the examination was conducted in these schools.”

    “Prof. Wushishi had previously monitored the conduct of the 2023 SSCE in the states of Kebbi, Sokoto, Zamfara, Katsina, Kano, Jigawa, and Bauchi,” the statement states.
