Heavily armed Department of State Services, DSS, officers clashed with Nigeria Correctional Services, NCS, officials over the custody of suspended former Central Bank of Nigeria, CBN, governor Godwin Emefiele.
A yet-to-be identified high-ranking NCS officer has been severely beaten and arrested by DSS officers, who have mobilized more men to oppose prison authorities’ attempt to take Emefiele into custody.
The prison authorities had summoned extra men moments before the battle to take Emefiele into custody as ordered by the court.
Lawyers and journalists at the scene fled for safety to escape being assaulted by the fighting agents.
They have now strategically placed their men on the court grounds to prevent Emefiele from being escorted out of the court.
