Damilola Opeyemi, a 27-year-old nursing mother, has been remanded in the Abolongo Correctional Facility, Oyo Town, by a Magistrates’ Court sitting at Iyaganku, Ibadan, for allegedly killing her husband.

Damilola is charged with the murder of her husband, whom she allegedly stabbed to death over dinner.

Police Prosecution Counsel, Insp. Olalekan Adegbite, informed the court that Damilola killed her husband on July 4 at 8.30 p.m.

Adegbite said: “The couple who lived at Adogba Ajegede area, Ibadan, stabbed her husband, Oluwashina, 27, during a fight over noodles for dinner”.

He stated that the offense violates Section 316 and is punishable under Section 319 of the Criminal Code Laws of Oyo State 2000.

The presiding Magistrate, Magistrate P. O. Adetuyibi, who did not take her plea due to a lack of jurisdiction, ordered her to be remanded immediately.

The remand, according to Adetuyibi, will hold sway pending legal advice from the Oyo State Directorate of Public Prosecution (DPP).

She therefore adjourned the matter until Sept. 27 for mention.
