Oliver Vershima, a Catechist of St. Martins Parish, Mbape in Adikpo deanery, Kwande Local Government Area of Benue State, is currently on the run following the death of a yet to be identified lady alleged to be his lover.
It was reported that Vershima ran from his hometown after being caught with the lady’s remains.
Some residents of the neighborhood stated that the catechist was attempting to dispose of the lady’s corpse when he was apprehended on Saturday.
It is alleged that the deceased was attempting to get rid of a pregnancy for the catechist which led to her unfortunate demise.
Catherine Anene, the State Police Public Relations Officer who confirmed the incidence, said the lady’s corpse had been recovered and put in a morgue.
She said “The corpse of the young girl, who was said to have visited her man friend, was recovered and taken to the mortuary after a report was received but the said Oliver is yet to be seen as he brought the corpse out of his room and ran away”.
