Madam Felicia Aderibigbe, a resident of Ore in Odigbo Local Government of Ondo State, has been raped and  murdered.

It was discovered that the elderly woman, who had left home for the farm, had not been seen for several days before her body was discovered at the edge of the farm by a team searching.

Adekunle Ishola, one of the neighbours who joined the search team, believes the suspects raped Madam Aderibigbe to death because of the position in which her corpse was discovered on the farm.

Ishola added that the unfortunate incident had been reported to security officials after revealing that there had been cases of rape in the community in recent times.

“It’s a sad incident, and in recent times in the community, many women could no longer go to the farm alone in order not to fall victim,” he said.

A community hunter who pleaded anonymity said a suspect linked to the murder had already been arrested. He added that the suspect was nabbed in collaboration with the town’s youth.

He stated that “we nabbed one person, who claimed he is a palm wine tapper, because we found the mobile phone of the woman in his possession, and we have handed him over to the police”.

Funmilayo Odunlami-Omisanya, the police public relations officer, confirmed the incident to newsmen.

She stated that one of the suspects, named Mima, had been apprehended and placed behind bars.
